Christmas Lights Switch On Whitton

Wed. 4th December 2013 - Village Green, Whitton. 6pm

Weather very cold but dry, lovely evening with mulled wine, mince pies and nibbles and a really good turn out by residents, the lights switched by Nigel. followed by Carols sung in hearty voice around the tree special thanks to Malcolm and Tony for dressing the tree and Margaret for hospitality

Weather very cold but dry, mulled wine to warm us up, excellent attendance  making it worthwhile. they do look bright, beautiful and cheerful, helping us all get in the mood for the festive season

Art Exhibition 

Sat. 19th - Sun. 20th October 2013 - Stillington Community Centre

Display and Sale of Works of Art by Stillington Art Group - Amazing display and attendance, with over 300 pieces of work displayed and wonderful attendance of over 350+ by the public, the standard of work was extremely high and a credit to the community, Due to the success and positive feedback the group hopes to make this an annual event

Long Service Presentation

Sun. 22nd September 2013 - Stillington Community Centre

A special thanks to four highly respected  special people, Mr Arthur Gregory, Mr Bob Tingle, Mrs Monica Tingle & Mr Jim Wills for all the years of dedication to the welfare of the community through Parish council, Community Hall Management and many other local community services and projects,  the hall was totally packed and was attended by family and friends, (we could have done with twice the space} Deputy Mayor Barbara Innman unveiled a dedication plaque and our local Junior Self Protect Fitness with instructor Terry Rooke did a marvellous display of their skills with a personal presentation of plaques to our guests of honour, followed by an exciting show of dance by the Dance Group with tutor Tricia Blake, all the children did us proud, this was followed by coffee and buffet thanks to Mandy and Sharon, also gratitude to Gill Barnes for filming and Robert Cooper for photography. a memorable day was had by all .

Stillington Community Games and Fun Day

Tuesday 30th July and Tuesday 13th August    on Mount Pleasant Playing Field, Stillington 11.00am - 3.00pm

A truly excellent event although the weather wasn't very kind for the opening, the rain soon stopped and did not dampen the spirit of the day, All activities were free and included .....Football Cage Sports on the Field.... Punch and Judy.... Circus Skills.... Magic Show.... Balloon Modelling....  Face Painting.... Arts and Crafts....Timmy the Tristar Mascot....  SBC Enforcement Vehicle Display....  Stickers and Certificates

Jonathan Edwards, Triple Jump World Record Holder and Olympic Champion (2000)  opened the event on Tuesday 30th July!! and displayed his skills to the young people in football as well as triple Jump
