The Practice

We are a three doctor semi-rural dispensing practice in the village of Stillington which lies between Stockton-on-Tees and Sedgefield.  The practice has just over 4,000 patients and covers an area of approximately forty-two square miles. Traditionally an integral part of the village community.  We have some patients who live in urban areas and these usually have connections with the villages.

The Practice is the only Dispensing Practice out of a total of twenty seven practices in the Stockton on Tees Teaching Primary Care Trust.  The first doctor on record to practise at Stillington was in 1873 and ran his surgery from a ‘lean to’ adjoining his house.  He was followed by a succession of doctors, all working from their own homes, until 1990.

The Building

The surgery was purpose built in 1990 with a practice pharmacy included on site.  In August 1999 a two storey extension of these premises was completed to enable the practice to become involved in the GP Vocational Training Scheme.  There are good vehicle parking facilities, however there is limited accessibility by regular public transport.

Mission Statement

The practice will provide a comprehensive range of patient services in a well organised, personalised and friendly manner. These services will be locally based and accessible to patients. The practice is committed to continuing education and professional development for partners and staff.’
